i’m all for complaining about stupid hollywood choices in films. because there are So Many decisions that the head honchos make which equate WTF. but you know what you hyper-critical people? how about you get the details right before you start complaining? it’s like we sat in the same theater but somehow you managed to conclude from left-field despite the Terribly Obvious Facts presented just because you’re in a hurry to berate the storytelling sins committed.

case in point: someone on the imdb board complaining that caspian blew the horn prematurely when he saw the dwarfs. uh, no. he blew the horn because THERE WERE A BUNCHA SOLDIERS ON YONDER HORIZON CHARGING DOWN HIS ASS WITH A MISSION TO KILL HIM. did you even watch the movie?!?! shocked at seeing dwarfs barrelling down on him yieah. but blew the horn only after he saw aforementioned soldiers.

i don’t remember much from the books but caspian is yet another excellent fanboy film a la lotr. chopping up the book didn’t kill the story the film was trying to tell — and since the film wasn’t trying to tell a stupid story, it’s all good. the boy never read the books and loved the film cuz it was a good mental and action ride. it’s like how i absolutely HATED that they turned faramir into doubting thomas but his character arc made sense in the film’s story. so i can deal with the change. if only they had a simliar approach to the golden compass. cuz boy did that one suck. let’s spill all the gray matter beans in the first 20 minutes and leave only action sequences to stimulate story pace. because it’s just not a good idea to challenge the audience mentally in any way so let’s spoon feed them to guarantee cash flow. WRONG. So Annoyingly Wrong. there was so much badly structured exposition dialogue that it was criminal. felonius.

it has to be noted that the caspian romance subplot was ASS. wtf i want to punch the lights outta who decided to add that shit in.
