last thursday(?) night there was another all-night saturation of data-surfing. so of course the topic trail wend through the different royal houses and inevitably ended up in bhutan. read more articles/interviews from the previous king (after necessary ogling of current incumbent — how can a girl not i ask you). one quote from the myriad of interviews has stuck in my head all these past days: that democracy does not happen overnight; rather the people must be educated to understand democracy before they can practice it in full. that instituting democracy takes time. father and son, at least on the outset, are obviously taking their time to lead the country towards democracy.
